| Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said he may play his starters in all four preseason games in order to keep them game-ready for the start of the regular season. Schwartz said the Tennessee Titans, his former team, used the same approach. "The thought process there was, if they played a half of football in the third preseason game and then had a cup of coffee in the fourth, that was 17 days since they had really any real action when they went for the opener," Schwartz said. "So don't be surprised if you see a little different philosophy than maybe you're used to in the fourth preseason game." |

He did not throw any touchdowns or interceptions in the game. The new slimmed down Culpepper moved around well enough to show he is healthy. "I feel like I've finally gotten back to the player I want to be," Culpepper noted after the game. He scrambled three times for 12 yards during the game. Rookie Matthew Stafford went 7-for-14 for 114 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 15. |
