While Carolina’s rookie RB Mike Goodson won’t see too many carries behind D’Angelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, Pro Football Weekly is reporting that the speedy back may be utilized as change-of-pace option. The Texas A&M standout may also be lined up in the slot due to his catching ability.

Mancini’s Take: Yes, it’ll be most interesting to see how Goodson will be used since Carolina is a conservative team that rarely lines up in four or five-receiver formations. At just under 200 pounds, looks like a Reggie Bush type who’s a fantastic pass catcher with the ability to make people miss in the open field. The dirty work will be left to Williams and Stewart. Who does this kid remind you of, Mandel?
Mandel's Take: He kind of reminds me of a poor-man's Chris Johnson, but with some strange attitude issues--if he had gone through his A & M career without incident, he wouldn't have lasted until the fourth round. He wasn't a full-time starter in college but that's not a huge deal to me. The kid possesses crazy elusiveness and I can see the Panthers devising several plays to get him into the open field. Carolina is indeed conservative, but good coaches adapt to the talent they have, and I consider John Fox a pretty good coach. Goodson should help out in the return game to start, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him making highlight reel plays before too long.
