| NFL: Titans WR Expected to Miss Opener | ||||

The Nashville Tennessean reports that Nate Washington's hamstring injury should keep him from playing in the Titans' opening game at Pittsburgh and could very well cause him to miss several games. The Skinny: We reported on this injury when it happened, but now it seems to be a bit more serious. Washington was supposed to be an impact player and now the only impact he's having is on Jeff Fisher's sleep habits. This is terrible news for Tennessee--that opening game against Pittsburgh is important in the season-long scope of things; those are two teams that'll be battling it out for a week one bye in the playoffs and head-to-head breaks ties. At least that's what they're thinking. Cries of, "It's early in the season" mean nothing--there are only 16 games and each one is big, especially when your goal is a Super Bowl. The Titans weren't deep at receiver to begin with and will now turn to rookie Kenny Britt to start opposite Justin Gage...but then what? Lavelle Hawkins? Paul Williams? Dominique Edson? There's trouble at the WR spot in Music City, folks. Expect Tennessee to attempt a quick fix by signing a castoff.
