NFL: Saints TE Out For Year
Tuesday, 11 August 2009 04:53    PDF Print E-mail

The Saints placed tight end Dan Campbell on injured reserve Monday, ending the 11-year veteran's season.

The Skinny: Campbell hasn't been healthy in years. The former Giant and Cowboy was a solid blocker and he'd always manage to surprise opposing defenses by catching a few passes dowfield. However, that was then and this is now--there isn't much of a market for an aging, banged up, one-dimensional tight end. Campbell had a decent eleven-year career. I hope he leaves the game with his health. Billy Miller and the dehydrated Jeremy Shockey will get the bulk of the playing time as expected. This isn't a big loss for New Orleans.
