NFL: Russell Ineffective...Again

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell has completed seven of 33 passes to wide receivers through two weeks.

Mandel's Take: It doesn't matter that the Raiders won the game Sunday--it's enough with JaMarcus Russell. He's the worst quarterback in the league, and it's not even close. How Tom Cable can keep running Russell out there with a 35.2 (not a typo) completion percentage is amazing to me. Accuracy is the most important attribute for a quarterback, yet Russell goes seven for 24 for 109 yards against Kansas City, a team which gave up over 300 yards passing in their first game? FAIL! The 4.5 yards per attempt is dreadful, but you fail to notice because of the gold-medal in awfulness Russell takes home because of his inaccuracy. I'm not a huge fan of Bruce Gradkowski, but at what point do the Raiders admit their mistake in drafting Russell? I guess it'll be around the same time that Al Davis realizes that speed isn't the only quality a wide receiver needs. There's talent on the Raiders, but without a legit quarterback...well, you know.
