| NFL: Panthers' Barnidge the Man at Tight End | ||||
|
|
According to the Charlotte Observer's David Scott, second-year tight end Gary Barnidge has taken over the starting job from Jeff King. The Skinny: The Panthers are apparently opting to go with the receiving option over the blocking option at tight end, and I can't blame them. As good a blocker as Jeff King is, this team is lacking at receiver and Barnidge gives them another option. The former first team All Big East player out of Louisville gives Carolina a downfield threat with solid hands. It seems pretty clear that the underachieving Dwayne Jarrett and the aging Muhsin Muhammad have thus far failed to impress in preseason. Contact Ross Mandel via email
