NFL: MJD Turns Up On Injury Report

Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew was added to the injury report on Thursday with a knee injury, NFL.com reports. He is listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

Mandel's Take: Jones-Drew has run effectively in the Jags' first two games, but he hasn't run enough. He's gotten just 34 carries because Jacksonville was down 21 points against Arizona before the teams took the field last Sunday, which limited him to 13 carries. It doesn't look like this injury is at all serious, but Jacksonville's dismal start to the 2009 is indeed serious. If they should start 0-3, which is a distinct possibility considering they face another team that's capable of shredding them with the pass in Houston, their season will be over before it started and they'll be playing it out with a coach who won't be there in 2010. People can talk about what a shame it is that Jags' games are being blacked out, but there's a reason fans aren't attending games--tickets are expensive and the team stinks. You can live with one of those as a fan, but not both. Let's see how deeply the Jags can dig for their coach this weekend. I have a feeling it's going to be a shallow grave.
