The Leading Authority of the NFL Draft

Johnson Looking Like Magic in OTAs

The Buffalo News reports that Bills second-year WR Steve Johnson is drawing praise for his work in OTAs. "If you guys could watch some of this tape of the past couple practices of him getting off of the press, it's ridiculous," Trent Edwards said. "It's making some of the best corners on our team [look bad], getting right by them."

Mancini’s Take: Johnson has been doing nothing but impress since being drafted as a seventh-rounder last year. The 6’2” playmaker can be the ultimate run-after-catch guy with home-run burst. The old Wildcat should see lots of single coverage as a third-wide out this year due to the presence of one Terrell Owens in the Great White North.

Mandel's Take: It'll be tough for Johnson to post numbers in Buffalo with TO and Lee Evans getting the lion's share of the targets, but he's my bet to be the number three guy ahead of Josh Reed and the disappointing James Hardy. I like Johnson's size and physical play, and he seemed quick to pick up the NFL-style of play last season when given the opportunity. That makes me believe he'll be able to adjust to the new offense more quickly than his competition.
