NFL: JaMarcus Russell Safe For Now

The Associated Press reports Oakland Raiders quarterback Jeff Garcia made his Oakland debut Saturday, Aug. 22. He threw an interception to end his only drive during the second quarter.

The Skinny: Do you hear that loud gasp?  That is JaMarcus Russell breathing a sigh of relief.  When Garcia came to Oakland, he commented that he could win the starting position from Russell.  If the team is only going to give you one drive in the first preseason game, and you end it with an interception, that is not how you overthrow the incumbent starter.
