| Edwards Calling the Shots in Buffalo | ||||

ProFootballWeekly.com reports that after failing to institute many new features in 2008, Bills offensive coordinator Turk Schonert is making a concerted effort to broaden the offensive system during OTAs. He’s incorporating more audibles and is entrusting Trent Edwards with more responsibilities and options as the quarterback comes to the line. Mancini’s Take: Ah yes, Mandel’s favorite quarterback is back in the news. Despite Ross’ negative view of the Stanford product, I firmly remain in his corner. If Schonert is giving Edwards the keys to the ragtop Caddy, it’s because the third-year pro can diagnose what’s in front of him and knows where his receivers are supposed to be. He can anticipate and he doesn’t force his throws. Edwards can be a top-10 quarterback if he maintains his confidence, which wasn’t always the case in 2008. Then again, there’s not much I can say when guys like the Ross man expected Edwards to be Peyton Manning in his second year. I’ll tell what does concern me about Buffalo’s offense though, and that’s their rebuilt offensive line, but I’ll get into that on another day. The focus now is on number five. Trackback(0)
