Deuce Makes Proposal to NFC Team

In an interview with a St. Louis radio station, Deuce McAllister suggested that he'd like to play for the Rams.

Mancini’s Take: Deuce is looking at the Rams roster and thinking that it needs a reliable back to spell Steven Jackson. McAllister is correct, but I don’t he think he’s the answer. This guy’s knees are shot, and I don’t know if he’ll be able to survive an entire season in his condition. The Rams need a player that can carry the load for them should SJax be out for a game or two. Antonio Pittman is no world beater, but he a better option than the long-time Saint at this point.

Mandel's Take
: Well, he won't have to survive an entire season--he's suspended for the first four games of 2009. Add to that the aforementioned knee issues and you have a player who would be happy to play for anyone, not just the Rams. It's true that St. Louis needs a bit of depth at the running back spot, but I don't think the new regime is going to be to excited at the prospect of bringing in a worn-down back. Perhaps the four-game suspension will help McAllister--teams might break camp with a full stable of backs, but by week four, there will be injuries and McAllister will be as healthy as he can be. He may catch on mid-season; there's no rush for anyone to sign him with the injuries and suspension factored in.
