Carolina Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen started taking reps with the second-team offense ahead of QB Hunter Cantwell Thursday, May 27.

Arizona Cardinals QB John Skelton has shown a powerful arm, but he needs to work on touch throws, timing and anticipation, reports The Arizona Republic's Jim Gintonio. Quarterbacks coach Chris Miller also said another challenge for Skelton will be how he can absorb the complexities of an NFL playbook. Miller said a potential path for Skelton would be to adapt to the NFL environment for a year and be in the mix to compete in the 2011 season.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mike Kafka has been impressing during the team's minicamp, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jonathan Tamari. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said Kafka has been impressive so far and has a shot to emerge as a backup, "but he's got to prove it to earn it."

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (hip) said the hip pointer he suffered Wednesday, May 26, is not a big deal and did not need any treatment on his hip, according to ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins.

Oakland Raiders OL Bruce Campbell said his transition from an offensive tackle in college to a guard in the NFL has been a bit of a struggle so far, reports Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers. "I was a left tackle, now I'm playing right guard," Campbell said. "It's a totally different experience. I'm used to space on the outside. Now I'm on the inside with a lot of help. People would say it's easier, but I don't see it being easier right now."

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the agent for DT Gerald McCoy have not started contract negotiations at this time, but both sides expect to reach an agreement before the start of training camp, reports Charlie Campbell, of PewterReport.com.

Former Cleveland Browns RB Jim Brown is no longer an official executive adviser for the team, reports The Associated Press. Brown had served as a consultant for the team for the past few years, but his title has been dropped. Brown will still be involved with the team, according to spokesman Neal Gulkis. Gulkis said Brown met with team president Mike Holmgren, and both agreed that Brown would not have an official role.
