ESPNews reports the Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement with unrestricted free-agent QB Jeff Garcia (Raiders). Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports the Carolina Panthers have signed unrestricted free-agent QB A.J. Feeley (Eagles). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Mancini's Take: Why Garcia would choose to go back to Philly and not hold out for a better job in Carolina or elsewhere is beyond me. The 39-year-old is viewed as an insurance policy that could start maybe a game or two until McNabb comes back. Garcia, however, won't start this week with Kevin Kolb doing the honors in all likelihood. I guess he feels very comfortable in Andy Reid's West Coast system. He performed very well for Reid about three years ago. The veteran is corageous, mobile, and adds some fire to the team. As far as the Panthers go, I don't know what to say. I mean, A.J. Feeley? A.J. Feeley? This is the same guy that the Dolphins wasted a second-round pick on in 2004, which played a huge role in GM Randy Mueller getting fired. How does any team in its right mind bring in Feeley as a possible replacement for interception machine Jake Delhomme when Feely himself is another turnover waiting to happen. The man has no instincts. He's a bonafied stiff. What happened, Marty Hurney? Damon Huard wasn't available? I'll take the ex-Chief any day over Feeley.
