The Washington Post reports that Redskins placed RG Randy Thomas on injured reserve with a torn right triceps muscle, ending his season. To fill his roster spot, Washington has signed RB Anthony Alridge off the Houston Texans' practice squad.

Mancini’s Take: The Redskins are in DEEP trouble along their offensive front. This is what happens when you fail to address your deficiencies in the draft and choose to continually make a big splash by pursuing the one big-name free agent (see Haynesworth, Albert) that will get the fans excited and sell tickets. Look, I recognize that Haynesworth is a legitimate difference maker on defense, but the fact of the matter is that the Redskin offensive line is thin and its aging. I’ve been saying this all summer starting when the team foolishly let tackle Jon Jansen walk to the Detroit Lions. What a nice way to protect your quarterback and put him the best position to succeed, Vinny Cerrato. Nice job. As far as Alridge goes, he’s a young back with nice burst and pass-catching ability. However, he also comes with ball security issues.
