NFL: Teams Wheeling & Dealing

Matt Mosley, of ESPN.com, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have released QB Jeff Garcia, to make room for LB Jeremiah Trotter. Saints OL Jammal Brown (hip) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, NFL.com reports.

Mancini’s Take: Garcia asking out of Oakland has proven to be the wrong move. The ageless one will have to get in line and settle for being a bench warmer for some team until a starting quarterback gets hurt. The 39-year-old has the heart, mobility, and smarts to lead an offense. All he needs is a good opportunity to present itself. As for Brown, his hip has been a real problem for him and the Saints shouldn’t run him out there until he’s fully recovered. His absence hurts the running game more than pass protection due the quick release of quarterback Drew Brees. Outside of a few nicks and bruises, his replacement Jermon Bushrod has been holding his own.
