NFL: Colts Just Fine Without Marvin

The Colts don't miss Marvin Harrison -- at least right now, according to NFL.com. Reggie Wayne had a 76-yard touchdown catch, Anthony Gonzalez added a 3-yard TD reception and Pierre Garcon made a key 12-yard catch for a first down in Indy‘s 23-15 victory over Philadelphia. While QB Peyton Manning still might be adjusting to not having his favorite all-time target around, the Colts' other wide receivers seem plenty capable of picking up the slack.

The Skinny: What was especially encouraging about Indy’s performance was the confidence Manning had in Gonzalez on a perfectly-placed strike in the corner of the end zone. The two had very little room to execute the play, but the pass and fade route were both carried out to perfection. Also noteworthy was the superb route running of tight end Jacob Tamme, who went on to catch five balls for 60 yards. He’s a very fluid runner with soft hands. Austin Collie was the one receiver that had a few shortcomings, particularly in the way he positioned himself too close to some of his fellow wide outs when running his routes. No worries, though, Manning was right on top of him to let him know his mistake.
