NFL: 10 Things I Think I Know

Here are ten gut feelings heading into the 2009 NFL campaign:

1. In a reversal of the Chad’s, Chad Henne will be starting for the Dolphins by week seven. Check out the Dolphins first five games (ATL-IND-SD-BUF-NYJ). Chad Pennington sits down either by benching or by injury. It will be out with the old and in with the new as Henne is waiting in the wings.

2. The Browns Brett Ratliff will be this year’s Tyler Thigpen. Team insiders say headman Eric Mangini feels more comfortable with Ratliff, whom he coached in New York, than he does with Brady Quinn or Derek Anderson at this point.

3. Darren McFadden
will be a top five running back in the National Football League. He’s healthy, has a more defined role in the offense and may even lead Oakland in receiving.

4. Baltimore fans will See Ray Run…a lot! Ray Rice is undeniably better than Willis McGahee and it has already become evident. Rice will turn heads and people will take notice!

5. The Miami Dolphins best wide receiver this season will be Davonne Bess. Who? Yes, you heard it here in June, mark it down.

6.
After 2009, it will be time to mention John Carlson of the Seahawks amongst the leagues best tight ends.

7.
Lions defensive end Cliff Avril will record double-digit sacks. His late-season flourish was a glimpse of things to come.

8. The Falcons starting duo of Chris Houston and Chevis Jackson will emerge as one of the top shutdown cornerback tandems in the NFL.

9. Wade Phillips will be replaced by Jason Garrett in-season and the Cowboys will fail to make the playoffs, again.

10. The Atlanta Falcons will defeat the Tennessee Titans 30-24 in Super Bowl XLIV.
