While on location at the 2009 NFL Hall of Fame induction ceremonies a couple of weeks ago, the NFL Draft Bible ran into Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly.

Kelly, who was on hand to honor the Class of ’09 enshrinement, which included former teammate Bruce Smith and head coach Marv Levy, announced the return of the United States Football League (USFL).

When asked about his opinion of the new upstart United Football League (UFL), Kelly responded, “I don’t know nothing about it.” He then went on to say, “I heard they’re going to start the USFL up again, which is pretty sweet!”

The NFL Hall of Fame quarterback began his career with the Houston Gamblers of the USFL before the league eventually folded in 1986.

While Kelly denied that he would have any interest of owning a team in the USFL, he did say that he would embrace the league as an ambassador if it did indeed return. “I know what it meant to my career,” he said. “Reggie White’s career, Doug Flutie, Steve Young, Herchel Walker…the list goes on and on.”

Kelly stated there would be an announcement within the next month or so.
