Impact: Retaining a punter is usually not a winning move in free agency, but keeping a guy like Shane Lechler is. Oakland is not a team that lights up the scoreboard or racks up yards, so they are dependent on field position and time of possession. Lechler has a powerful leg and can pinpoint balls deep inside opposing teams' territory.
