The NFL Draft Bible takes a look at the impact of the latest free agent signings.
Matt Cassel, QB
6' 4'' 230 lbs 26 years old
Franchised and traded to Kansas City Chiefs
Impact: The Chiefs finally appear to have a capable quarterback under center. Now they need to surround Cassel with some talent. Cassel quieted many doubters in 2008 when he propelled the Patriots to a solid season and got himself the contract he deserves. The big question going into 2009 is whether or not he is a product of a successful system or a top-flight quarterback. Matt Schaub looked amazing in Atlanta behind Michael Vick, but has not been lights out like many expected. The Patriots are fine at quarterback but might not have gotten as much value as they could have. Clearing up cap space was the driving force behind the deal and New England now has four Day 1 picks in the upcoming draft.
